so this is the first year
in a long time i forgot
i forgot your bday
no poem was written on that day
no thought was given
no prayer that you were
still on track to a true
moment of enlightenment
my beloved
i forgot your birth but i have not forgotten you
as you reach past a half century
i ponder our loss, our love, our forgiveness and
yes - even our joy - may next year
be the year we forgive each other
completely and forever - forget that day
